In Memory of Billy Bowen
There’s this poem in my mind thats been growing
it’s a tribute to the memory of my mate , Billy Bowen.
I’d see him in the morning by the Y.M.C.A.
I’d motion , “see you later”? and He’d signal back “OK”!
We would meet in the , “Rhondda Pub” and later go down the , “Pi”
and talk and laugh and grumble of how the week went by ;
then back up to the Rhondda Quiz where we’d have to do some thinking
we weren’t that sucessfull coz We’d been too busy drinking !
But sometimes We were lucky and We’d win that trivia game
thren Bill would ask a question like , “What’s Rembrandts first name”?
He was quite a laid back character who never made a fuss
and I still find it hard to beleive He’s no longer with us.
But He’s probably with , “Maurice Rogers” and “Adey Jones” , all having fun
and “Tony Sam” and “Gareth Ellis” , not forgetting old “Dai Bunn”.
and they’re drinking to old times up there and they’ll have a “Spliff” or two
and they’ll do what they like where the sun always shines and the skies are always blue.
Yes , I enjoyed Mr. Bowens company and I shall miss him through and through
but he’ll wait a long time to see me again if I’m gonna write a poem for each and all of you!!!
